Hartford and Spokane Finally Make Deal May 16, 1998
Late tonight, the Spokane Pirates and the Hartford Whalers came to an
agreement regarding the Greg Maddux trade. The Spokane doctors had
a chance to examine Greg Maddux and it was discover that he would
need off-season surgery to repair the torn rotator cuff. This being the case
Jeremey of Spokane and Jeremy of Hartford added the following clause
to the trade:
"In the event that Greg Maddux is not available to appear in a game
next year, Hartford will compensate Spokane with a first round Free
Agent draft pick, or a prospect of equivalent value to that pick, to
be agreed upon by both teams and the League Commissioner."
