The Spokane Pirates have fired their lawyers. But the unusual nature of
this story
is that it comes not from a Sports Reporter, but from a Crime Report!
According to an ex Spokane lawyer, they were," ...all called to a meeting
with Jeremey Stephens,
when all of the sudden a bunch of guys burst in wearing ski masks and
carrying baseball bats! I couldnt
see faces, but the guys with the HUGE arms HAD to be McGwire and Brady
Anderson. They beat us
senseless, and put two of us into the hospital!"
All of this the day after the Free Agent draft where, reportedly, the
Pirates not only
lost their first round pick, but due to the wording of a contract with
Brooklyn, will
also lose their first rounder in the "rookie draft" this June.
Stephens and the rest of the Pirates were "unavailable" for comment. A
spokesperson
for the team had this to say. "This whole team is at their spring training
facility
in St. Petersburg, Flordia. They are 3,500 miles away and this whole story
is
obviously an attempt to exhtort money from this fine organization. The team
has imposed
a media blackout while in traing, for team performance reasons."
