PVBL: Sacramento Knights
Sacramento Finishes a Busy Week

December 20, 1998

The Sacramento Knights have gotten significantly better over the last few days. On Wednesday they announced the signing of flamethrower, Gary Niles, to a 6-year $32 million dolar deal. Niles joins Kerry Wood, Myles Tauscher, Matt Morris and Frank Callahan in a rotation made up of young hurlers, all of which have the potential to be stars. Also on Wednesday, the Knights announced a trade with Galena which was shot down by the trade commission but the Knights were able to work out another deal with Galena as they send Roger Cedeno, the 3rd pick in the FA draft, Deion Sanders and Mike Bielecki and in return they ger Sean Berry, Roy Clingman JR and top catching prospect-Ben Davis.

The KNights also announced another trade earlier today as they send Jay Buhner and Ramon Martinez to Hartford for Henry Rodriguez, Carlos Castillo and Bob Ardell.

The Knights are long past the days when they were the worst team in the PVBL. They are now a legit contender for the playoffs and are considered by some to be the frontrunner int he division. Their young players are getting better and they have improoved their bullpen a lot. For a change this should be an exciting season in Sacramento.

The knights still have some major flaws, they are in need of players with CH and speed and are willing to trade Troy O'leary (51CH, 94PH, 44SP) for a player like that. Anyone intereshen let me know.
