"Well, we aren't happy about having to take this damn time machine ride and
play August again, but hopefully we can do just as well as last time and
once again increase our division lead," said Punxatawney owner Dan Shapiro.
The 9 game lead Punxatawney held just days ago is now back to 2 games and
Punxatawney again finds themselves deep in a major pennant race. They also
need to "retrade" a few players that were traded during August.
"No, we certainly aren't happy," reiterated Shapiro. "But its not that bad,
as we are still leading the division. Somehow I doubt it will be as easy
this time as it was last time. But we will get another look at Vero Beach,
with 6 games against them this month."
In the alternate reality of August, Punxatawney went 3-3 against the Bums.
Many star players on the team have lost many at bats and plate appearances
and hits. Dan Wilson lost his best month of the year, and numerous players
lost a handful of homeruns. However, just before the timeline became
corrupted, both Ryan Klesko and Jose Valentin were injured, so perhaps this
"reset" will improve the Groundhogs chances. Hopefully, only time will
tell.
