Outlaws Compete for Wildcard and Division Lead September 14, 1998
-Deadwood is currently 3.5 games out of the divison lead and 4 back in the
wildcard.
-1B Rafael Palemrio is listed as DAY-TO-DAY after fracturing his right big
toe in game one of today's double header against Montreal. Palmerio fouled
a ball off his foot, then later in the at-bat went yard. Palmerio will
rest the toe for the next few games.
-Player/Manager Don Slaught may be in trouble. GM Philip Raisor is
considering releasing Slaught from his contract after the season is over.
-Raisor is considering converting INF Chris Gomez into a catcher during the
off season. Gomez is expected to go to the instructional league during the
offseason to learn how to play the position. One major disadvantage is
that Gomez does not have much of a throwing arm.
-Major offsesaon needs: A catcher (if Gomez isn't the answer) and
upgrading the bench. Raisor is pretty happy overall with the club.
