It now appears that third place Deadwood, will NOT be conducting a
firesale. In fact, General Manager Philip S. Raisor is looking to add even
more payroll in the near future. According to Raisor, "We'd like another
starter, and someone to platoon with SS Shawon Dunston." Deadwood's minor
league system is very slim currently, only a couple "prospects" remain, so
any deals would probably have to include someone from the 25 man roster.
Flash!
RHP Tom "Flash" Gordon, who has given up only one run in over 25 innings
this season in relief, is moving into the rotation. Manager Don Slaught is
confident that Gordon can be a quality starter.
Limbaugh and Vinny Mac?
Deadwood owner and CEO Rush Limbaugh recently announced that he has come
to an agreement with Titan Sports (parent company of the World Wrestling
Federation), to co-promote a series of commercials hyping both companies.
Deadwood stars, Roger Clemens, Eric Davis, and Tino Martinez will appear at
the WWF's King of the Ring Pay Per View broadcast, while WWF superstars The
Heartbreak Kid Shawn Michaels and WWF Champion Stone Cold Steve Austin will
have a title match after an upcoming game. More info in the upcoming weeks.
