Limbaugh Puts Pressure on Outlaws

June 29, 1998

(DEADWOOD, SD) - Rumors out of Deadwood have Outlaw team owner, Rush Limbaugh telling General Manager Philip Raisor to either "start winning" or "cut payroll". Raisor has been trying to fine some help for the stumbling team to no avail, so it appears that a Fire Sale is close at hand.

The team is currently in third place, 8 games back of division leading Edmonton. It is well known that Raisor has been trying without success to land another superstar to the line up. In the past few days, Deadwood tried to pry CF Ken Griffey from Hartford, C Mike Piazza from Houston, SS Barry Larkin from Washington, and former Outlaw SS Alex Rodruigez from Duluth.

According to sources close to Raisor, the General Manager has dangled prized prospect, SS Rod Lewis and draft picks in both the free agent and amateur drafts to no avail.

A copywrited report out of Sioux City has the following players being made available, possibly as soon as the All-Star break: 1B Tino Martinez, 3B Ken Caminiti, RF Moises Alou, and possibly RHP Roger Clemens among others.

Raisor is said to be praying for the team to start winning soon, so he doesn't have to sell off the team one by one.

In other news, plans to build a New Hitchcock Stadium have passed the City Assembley and construction, using public funds, should begin soon.
