Only a day after Deadwood GM Philip S. Raisor announced that Deadwood
would be standing pat with what had already been done in the off season,
Raisor announces the following deal. Deadwood is shipping LHP Rheal
Cormier (9-15 4.57 era), C Chris Widger, prospect LHP Juan Segui, and the
47th pick in the upcoming draft to Medina for RHP Ramon Martinez.
Martinez was injured for most of last season, going 3-7 with an era of
5.20 in only 90 innings. However, Deadwood team physician, Dr. Patrick
Hooper has given Martinez a clean bill of health.
With the trade, Deadwood's rotation now boasts LHPs Randy Johnson and
Jeff Fassero, and RHPs Roger Clemens, Bartolo Colon, and now Ramon
Martinez.
Rumor has it that Raisor may not be done, as another deal may be in the
works...
