Goodwin of the Ottawa Generals is making waves in the AAA International League. Goodwin leading minor league players in several categories: BA, SLG, hits, triples, runs, runs created, and is second in stolen bases. "Our only qualm is that Curt's not stealing as much as we'd like him to," says Ottawa manager, Tim Foley. The 21-year old centerfielder is on an incredible pace with 11 triples in 51 games. "He lacks any power whatsoever, so four home runs to date is a surprise already."

The 22-year old firstbaseman for the Ottawa Generals is one of the top prospects in the IL. He is leading the league in home runs and second in the league in RBIs behind teammate Taylor Sayles. "I've had trouble in the majors because I'm looking for a home run every time I come up to bat," says Monahan. "I've been trying to learn to be patient and controled at the plate, but the real test will be next time I get sent up to the majors."

Merritt, Hugh 8 3 .727 3.25 80.1 40 .236
The 19-year old righthander is opening up some eyes in minor league baseball. Hugh Merritt is tied for the league lead in wins, and has a 1:2 ratio of strikeouts to innings pitched. In 11 games, he has averaged 7 1/3 innings per start. "The scouts said [Hugh Merritt] had good stuff, but no one ever thought he would be having this much success," says Tim Foley. "Hugh doesn't have overly-impressive stats, but he has 8 wins for a reason--he pitches well under pressure and when it counts."
