Grudzielanek Involved in Medina Trade June 17, 1998
MEDINA(AP)- The Medina Mustangs announced a major trade today. After hours and
hours on the phone with the GM of division rival Tucson, Mustangs owner Randy
Reese announced the following deal in a prepared press release.
"We sent shortstop Mark Grudzielanek, pitching prospect Jim Koppe, and our
11th overall pick to Tucson for outfielders Alex Ochoa, Sherman Obando, and
pitchers Brian Barber and Joe Pennyfeather. Although we will miss Grudzie, we
feel the four players we acquired will earn starting roles in a couple of
years. This was a move for the future."
Mustangs GM Dick Chudnow will take the PVBL bye week to readjust his roster
and perhaps make another trade or two. Probable lineup adjustments include
Robin Ventura moving to short, and Jay Buhner moving to third. Either Ochoa or
Obando will move to the outfield.
Reese also announced that the next home game at The Crossroads will be shisk-
ka-bob day, with the first 40,000 fans receiving a free shisk-ka-bob.
