LAUREL, MARYLAND - With a two game mini winning streak the Lynx have climbed back to within a single game of the .500 mark.
In the June 13th game against Hartford, Laurel put up 10 runs in the third
and then had to hold on for a 10-7 victory. The offensive star was recent
starter Tony Bridsall. Birdsall, who moved into the starting line up after
the trade of Jeff Bagwell to Phoenix, went 4 for 5 with a run scored two
RBI's and a stolen base. Armando Reynoso wasn't at his best but had just
enough to hold on for the win. Rookie Todd Noel, who has been much sharper
since his move to the bullpen picked up his first major league save.
In the June 14th game the Lynx scored 11 runs, ruffing up Hartford starter
Aaron Sele for 5 runs in one plus inning. Laurel SS Chris Snopek clubbed
two HRs as part of a 4 for 5 performance with 4 runs scored and 4 RBI's. C
Bill Hassleman added two doubles and a HR to the offensive outburst. Steve
Karsay improved his reord to 4-5 with his second consecutive strong outing.
Team Notes:
DH Jermaine Dye has raised his average to .274 and leads the team with 39
RBI's.
3B Garry Gaetti remains the only Laurel player hitting above .300 with a
.312 average in 63 games.
Other than Julio Santana and his 5+ ERA the bullpen has been suprising
decent with Phil Vaugh (1.59 ERA in 45 innings) Tris Johnson (3.00 ERA in 39
innings) and rookie Marc Pisciotta (4-1, 1.50 ERA, 8 saves).
