PVBL: Laurel Lynx
Team Climbs Above .500 (for now)

April 17, 1998

LAUREL, MARYLAND--Riding a season high three game winning streak the team climbed over the .500 mark for the first time in its history, with a record of 6-5 after 11 games played. The offense continues to be lead by 1B Jeff Bagwell who lead the team with 8 HR's and 12 RBI's, although strong contributions with the bat have been made by 3B Gary Gaetti (.395, 3HR's, 6 RBI's) and SS Chris Snopek (.333, 4, 5).

In a line-up move to hopefully add more offense 2B Mickey Morandi (.176 with 11 stikeouts and 4 errors) has been benched. Opening CF Rich Becker has been moved to 2B, with Jermaine Allensworth taking the CF spot and the 9th spot in the batting order.

To make up for the loss of LHP Steve Avery, the team has moved rookie RHP Marc Pisciotta, who had 2 wins as a reliever into the 4th spot in the rotation for the time being. If he doesn't have success as a starter, he may change roles with closer of the week, Julio Santana.

Trade Winds: The team is weighing offers for Becker, Bagwell, and its pick in the draft. The Lynx are also looking for draft picks in the upcomming amateur draft (high/low it doesn't matter) if anyone is interested please contact the front office.
