PVBL: Hartford Whalers
Wildcard talk ends, battle for picks begins

August 25, 1998

Hartford, CT (AP)- With today's 7-6 loss at home to the Tucson Border Patrol the Hartford Whalers' losing streak has now reached 9 as they have fallen 10 games back of Edmonton in the McCoy. Amidst all of the talk of the top teams' fight for playoff and wildcard spots the battle for futility has also begun. Instead of vying for wildcard spots the following teams are currently the bottom 5 of PVBL and are duking it out for the right to draft high and to steal away other people's player in the FA Plan:
1.) Chicago 45-80 .360
2.) Thunder Bay 49-76 .392
3.) Sacramento 49-76 .392
4.) Hartford 52-70 .426
5.) Anchorage 55-70 .440

Remember, the bottom 8 teams participate in the FA Plan and the drafts are ordered according to record. While many people will keep you up to date on their playoff runs and boast, the rest of us will keep you up to date in our race for futility.
