The hits just keep on coming for Hartford June 25, 1998
Hartford (AP)- As if being swept by last place Montreal, going 1-9 in their
last ten, falling into last place themselves and having 6 different players
spend significant time on the DL this season wasn't bad enough the Hartford
Whalers lost BOTH their middle relievers to injury today. Both RHP John Burke
and LHP Jack Broskie went down in Hartford's second game, yet another loss,
with Montreal today. Both are expected out 10 days or more. Burke went just
over an inning before pulling a tendon but Broskie threw only 2 pitches before
removing himself. Of the injuries, Manager Jeremy Chrabascz said, "What else
is new? What else can happen to us? We're in last. We're beaten and injured.
We're on an enormous losing streak. What else could possibly go wrong?" Be
careful what you ask for, coach.
