PVBL: Galena Hamsters
Morgan Traded for Draft Pick

September 1, 1998

Galena, IL--Yesterday, minutes before the trading deadline, the Galena Hamsters traded RHP Mike Morgan to the Tucson Border Patrol for draft picks to be named. If Tucson makes the playoffs, the Hamsters would receive their compansational 2nd round amateur pick. If Tucson fails to make the post season, Galena will end up with Tucson's 2nd and 3rd round amateur pick.

Morgan, 35, wasn't surprised to see himself traded to Tucson. "Peck had a talk with me and said he was gonna move me to the pen. He w anted to give Jones a chance to start. He asked me if I would mind being traded, that was nice of him. But I'm glad to go to Tucson, where I'm needed."

Peck was very considerit to Morgan, "I realize that Morgan is one of the reasons we've had success. He's held down that #5 starting spot better than anyone in the league. I wasn't gonna grade him unless I had his consent. I have too much loyalty in my players to do otherwise."
