Edmonton(AP)-How does a team that held onto 1st place all season long, and
at times had 12 and 13 game leads on their opponents not even make the
playoffs? Not even a Wild card spot? That's a question that GM Brian Sculac
is asking himself."I dunno. We should have won this Division. Some players
on this team folded like a cheap tent. Changes will be made." What changes
Sculac wouldn't elaborate on, but the rumours persist that he would love
another quality pitcher. So, are Tim Salmon, Tony Clark, Nomar Garciaparra,
Todd Hundley, Jose Cruz Jr. and Vladdie Guerrero going to be here? How about
2b Joey Cora, who had a career year? "We'll sit down and look this over and
see what needs to be done." Also, rumours are swirling that Sparky Anderson
may be managing the Oil Kings next season. "Yes, Sparky has talked to me.
And yes, I'll listen to any offers, big or small. And let me just
congratulate Phillip Raisor and the Deadwood Outlaws. We knew even when we
were well ahead in the Division that the Outlaws were a good club. I guess
we didn't know how good:)"
