Oil Kings Face Series Against Outlaws September 18, 1998
Deadwood(AP)- The Edmonton Oil Kings have hung onto first place all season,
but slowly the Deadwood Outlaws have been closing the gap. Now, the two
clubs meet in a 3-game Series in Deadwood. This series can decide who will
win the Division and go onto Post Season play. The Outlaws are currently just
2 games back. Game 1 tomorrow night has Edmonton Ace, Chuck
Finley(10-11,3.01 ERA)going against Deadwoods Andy Benes(9-11, 3.56 ERA).
Game 2 has Jose Rosado for Edmonton(11-13,3.60 ERA)vs Scott
Erickson(14-5,2.12 ERA). This will be a tough one for the Oil Kings. Game
3's finale has Edmonton sending Pete Schourek(10-17,4.56 ERA) against
Deadwoods Paul Spoljaric(3-0,5.54ERA) It's going to be a great series, and
tickets have been sold out for months in Deadwood. Asked to comment on the
Series, Oil King GM Sculac only had this to say-"We have to win at least 2
out of 3. Period." Short and sweet. The pressure's been on all season for
the young Oil Kings. We'll see how they handle this one.
