Edmonton- Chuck Finley made his pitching debut in an Oil King uniform last
night, and it was a rousing success! Finley pitched 7 strong innings, giving
up just 2 earned runs on 6 hits, to improve his record to 6-8 on the season.
"I'm happy with the outcome. I thought my slider was working well tonight.
The guys here in Edmonton have been great. I wasn't sure about what to expect
coming to a Canadian team, but these fans are fantastic. Even with their
Hockey Team, the Oilers, winning the 1st round in the Playoffs, the ball park
was jammed tonight. This is a good young ballclub. I'm looking forward to
playing here a long time." Finley was asked on his reaction when he found out
about the trade. "Well, when Mr. Weiner informed me I was going to Edmonton,
I didn't know what to expect. The Washington organization has treated me
well, and I wish them luck. But I'm an Oil King now, and I'm here to help
this team win the pennant." After a lengthy 8 game losing streak, the Oil
Kings have won 4 of 5, and have increased their lead over 2nd place Deadwood
to 5 and a half games.
