PVBL: Chicago Hoersts
Chicago Responds to Laurel

Febuary 19, 1998

Recently Laurel's press release came across my desk discussing an offer of $5 million for the services of Floyd Hoerst.

Here at Chicago we are not insane. We included a bonus in our offer of $3 million should Floyd hit four home runs...we all know he would never do that, saving us the money. We never intended paying him upwards of $4 million, let alone $5 million.

As of tonight at 12:00, CST we will be releasing Mr. Hoerst out of his contract with our ballclub so he may persue options with Laurel. Needless to we are very disappointed at this loss, however we have come up with a tremendous way to cope. We look at this not so much as the loss of a ball player, but more as the gaining of a nickname.

As of today the Chicago PVBL franchise will forever be known as the Chicago Hoersts.
