Anchorage AK (AP) - In a surprise move just hours before the trading
deadline, the Abominations pulled off a deal involving the player many
people thought was their best player -- Lance Johnson. The deal brought
disgruntled RF Gary Sheffield to Alaska (how long will that last), along
with CF F.P. Santangelo and a third round pick.
Seemingly unwilling to pull the trigger on a few offers for pitcher Billy
Wagner and after a horrific sept-header, the 'Boms decided that a trade was
necessary. "In order to get good players, you need to trade good players.
Lance was a solid centerfielder for us. But we feel with the 3, 4, 5 spots
of Gary, Vaughn, and Eric [Karros], that gives us a formidable punch,
particularly against left handed pitchers. Plus we keep the services of our
best pitcher." said owner/GM Nick Tulach in a late night press conference.
In other news, the Abominations' stadium, Exxon Field, which was hastily
being completed while it is being played in, sprung a leak today. Employee
negligence seems to be the fault. No one was injured, but several local
animals are in danger.
Trade bait
- Anchorage seemed to get cold feet at several offers for Billy Wagner. It
seems he is off the trading block.
- the 'Boms are still in search of left handed power hitting. They are
hoping to pull off a deal before the trade deadline.
