Weiner pulls a Reinsdorf, trades away team

Reports from inside the Washington Sea Dogs organization may have traded starters Jeff Conine and Sean Berry to an unnamed rival Data division team for prospects, possibly mailing in the season.

The source said that the team management had been panicking, citing lack of team leadership and a general downward trend in morale for the trade. He mentioned the team was playing below .500 ball since Cal Ripken was injured, and that they had gradually fallen out of first place since then.

The Sea Dogs currently stand at 31-25, 1.5 games back in the Defiant League's Data Division. This trade, if it is for prospects, would effectively reduce the level of powerhitting on the team.
