Border Patrol Ace Asks to be Traded

Tucson (AP) -- Kevin Brown, staff ace of the Tucson Border Patrol, has asked owner Scott Watterson to trade him to a contender. "I've been unlucky my whole career with run support. Last year, I could've won the Cy Young with better run support. This year, whenever I pitch, we either don't score, or we give up a bunch of runs on errors. It's affecting my confidence out there. I'd like to play on a team where I can actually win. This team is rebuilding, and I'd like to get a ring before I retire."

Brown was shelled for 8 runs (6 earned) in his last outing against the Bellingham Aqua Sox. When asked about his star's request, Watterson had this to say, "Obviously Kevin is one of our best players. He's frustrated, and so are we. I'd like for this team to win every game too. Who wouldn't? If he really wants to be traded, we'll do our best to oblige him. However, don't expect us to just give him away. Kevin's one of the top pitchers in the game, and we expect to be compensated accordingly."

Tucson's needs include a future staff ace, future star 3b, right and left fielders, and a closer. "Naturally, we don't expect to fill all those positions with one trade, but we'd like to at least fill several. Our draft position looks like it's going to be a good one, so we can fill some of these spots via next year's draft."

Other Border Patrol players on the block include:

Pete Harnisch, Kirk Reuter, Moises Alou, Tony Phillips, Dennis Eckersley, and Orlando Miller.

Feel free to send me an offer for any of these guys as a package or individually. Also, pretty much any bullpen guy or minor leaguer is available for the right price.
