Shapiro Named PR Rep for Pepper League
Punxatawney, PA--
Matthew Peck, commissioner of the Pepper Virtual Baseball League stated today that he had made a selection for the Public Relations Representative Position. He annouced in a press release today that Dan Shapiro, owner of the Punxatawney Groundhogs, would be taking over the position, effective immediately. Shapiro's team, the Groundhogs, are the early season frontrunners in the Riker division of the Defiant League.
In his press release, Peck stated that this move was "an effort to spread out the power, responsibility, and work" to the other owners of the league. He thought "it would be prudent to generate several office positions," hinting that this may be the first of multiple new positions. Commissioner Peck also noted that this appointment will lessen his personal workload, a neccessity now that he has resumed school. When asked why Shapiro was chosen, Peck replied, "Dan Shapiro was the only applicant, but I was more than happy to give him the job. He seems to be real serious and dedicated to the p.r. position."
The powers of this new office are fairly limited. Shapiro will be responsible for advertising the league when more owners are needed and "generating and maintaining a press release web page that archives all PVBL press releases." He will also write an article each week to be posted on the web site and mailed to all owners. Shapiro thanked Peck in a press release of his own later in the day, gracious for the opportunity to contribute to the league. He stated that he intended to "keep the press release page updated and write at least one article each and every week." He also indicated that he may conduct interviews of fellow owners when compiling his weekly reports.
Both Peck and Shapiro agreed that the first season of PVBL is off to a great start, though Peck was a bit annoyed by the bugs with the FPS program. In closing, he expressed his desire for "everyone to get as involved as possible" and "check out the channel on IRC more often."
