Deadwood's players and management are steamed that Harford recently
celebrated a division title while Deadwood is not yet mathamaticly
eliminated yet. With eight games remaining for both teams, Deadwood is
currently SIX games back. Deadwood player/manager Don Slaught responded
to the situation with the following comments, "I'm not sure exactly what
they were thinking, but they've got a riled up ballclub on your hands.
I'm not going to go as far to say that I'm promising that we'll win the
division, but we're going to play as hard as possible and aren't just
going to roll over and die."
Randy Johnson Not Our For Season?
There is still a chance we may get to see LHP Randy Johnson pitch again
this season. It had been reported that Deadwood GM Philip Raisor was
going to shut Johnson down for the season (along with SS John Valentin),
but Johnson has convinced Raisor that he should be able to pitch in one
of the Outlaw's final games. A final decesion has not been made, but if
Deadwood can stay in the hunt, expect Johnson to pitch if he's able.
Julio Franco Signs Extension
