-The Outlaws have been all but eliminated with two losses today to
division leading Hartford, and are now seven games out.
-LHP Randy Johnson and SS John Valentin have both been shut down for the
remainder of the season and have joined RHP Jason Schmidt on the disabled
list.
Outlaw player/manager Don Slaught will use INF Carlos Garcia at short to
close out the season. Also, it has been decided that Bartolo Colon will
finish the season in the bullpen. Colon has been struggling lately, and
Slaught doesn't want to damage the 18 year olds arm.
-Don Slaught has been signed to a two year extension to continue as
manager for the Outlaws. Slaught and GM Philip Raisor will decide after
the season if Slaught will return as Javy Lopez's back-up next season, or
if Chris Widger is ready to take his place.
-In the off season, the Outlaws will be looking to aquire a back-up
outfielder and another starting pitcher. Other then that, Raisor is
happy with his club and expects to contend next year. It's well
documented that Raisor is trying to unload RF Garry Sheffield, and is
hoping to do so as soon as possible.
