Johnny Bench Resigns

-In a surprise move, Deadwood Manager, Johnny Bench has resigned from the team effective immediatly. Bench is reportedly anxious to spend more time with his family and on the golf course. Deadwood General Manager, Philip S. Raisor has named starting catcher Don Slaught intern-manager until a full time replacement can be named. Slaught is expected to continue his catching duties.

-Deadwood and Galena have exchanged minor leaguers. Galena picked up 3B prospect John Aust for relief pitcher Paul Assenmacher. Assenmacher is expected to be called up from AAA Dodge City after he passes a team physical.

-Deadwood and Binghamton are supposedly working on a deal that include, according to sources inside the Outlaws, starting 2B Julio Franco and RF Moises Alou. More info when it become available.

-After starting three games for the Dodge City Marshalls, LHP Jeff Fassero has been activated from the DL and will move back into the Outlaw's starting rotation. To make room for Fassero on the roster, RHP Jose Rijo has been sent back to Dodge. Rijo, is said to be upset and is demanding a trade. Deadwood GM Phil Raisor, is looking at several possiblities, including handing Rijo his outright release...
