PVBL: Deadwood Outlaws
News Bits

July, 1997

-The Outlaws have fired P.R. Director Gregory Raisor for failing to make sure OF/DH GARY SHEFFIELD was on the All-Star Ballot. (He wasn't)

-Catcher JAVIER LOPEZ is finishing up his re-hab assingment at AAA Dodge City, and is expected to return to the Outlaws shortly after the All-Star break. IF the Outlaws are successful in trading RF MOISES ALOU, then Lopez will take over at DH, Sheffiled will return to right and DON SLAUGHT will stay put at catcher. If CEO/GM Philip Raisor is unable to to trade Alou, Lopez will take Slaught's place behind the plate.

-Eighteen year old rookie LHP BARTOLO COLON has been removed from the rotation and replaced by LHP MARK CLARK (Not to be confused with the OTHER Mark Clark. Clark was 2-1 with a 3.25 ERA for Tombstone of the South Western rookie league. Clark was drafted in the amateur draft out of the State University of West Georgia. Colon was moved to the bullpen by field manager Johnny Bench after three straight below par starts. To make room on the roster for Clark, RHP DOUG BOCHTLER was sent to AAA Dodge City.

-The team is still looking to trade RF Moises Alou for another starting pitcher. A deal with Brooklyn for Andy Benes has apparently fallen through.
