There's no truth to the rumor that Bradley Airfield, which serves
Hartford, Connecticut and Springfield, Massachusetts, will be renamed
"Home of the former Larimer Knights" in spite of the fourth deal this
season between Hartford and Larimer. This deal sent catcher Hector
Villanueva searching for a new house in Hartford and the Enterprise
League, and sent shortstop Cecilio Cheadle and pitching prospect Cal
Johnson to Colorado. Cheadle is expected to start immediately to give the
slumping Miguel Friantague a few days off, while Johnson will hone his
pitching skills with the AAA team in Fort Morgan.
Villanueva, who only arrived in Colorado a few weeks ago, had this to say
before leaving: "I am grateful for the opportunity I had here, and I look
forward to being able to play everyday in Hartford. It was just my
misfortune to be traded to an organization which already had two top-notch
catchers in Chris Hoiles and Curry Powell."
Newcomers Cheadle and Johnson were unavailable for comment to Colorado
media outlets before press time.
