After nearly two months, Chris Hoiles finally rejoined the Larimer Knights today, along with fellow former DL resident Joe Orsulak. Both were immediately placed into the starting lineup. Also promoted and inserted into the rotation was rookie Bob Bliss, who was drafted just three weeks ago and has pitched for the club's AA affiliate in Pine Bluffs, Nebraska. He will make his major league debut on Friday.
In a bit of a surprise move, the Knights made room on the Active roster sending power-hitting backup catcher Hector Villanueva to the AAA club in Fort Morgan. It serves as a vote of confidence in the starting catcher for the last two months, Curry Powell, and further confirms rumors that Villanueva, acquired as a backup for Powell, will be shipped elsewhere. Joining Villanueva are 1B Curry Powell and 3B Jeff Branson. Howie Paulette, widely rumored to be the target of demotion, will instead be inserted into the lineup at second base to allow the coaches to have a look at him.
These moves were enacted by VP of Operations Mark Singleton. Team owner John Dybala was ill with a migraine headache and was unavailable for comment before press time late last night.
