The Larimer Knights cancelled today's game and workout after 4 million Coloradans woke up and discovered that the state had been shut down by a blizzard. At the Fort Collins-Loveland airport, 15 inches of snow fell and there were drifts as high as five feet. Denver International Airport, along with Colorado Springs Municipal Airport, suspended all operations late last night. This marks the first time that DIA, which was designed to be able to land two planes simultaneously in bad weather, closed due to poor weather conditions.
Up to 12 additional inches of snow are expected before the storm moves into Kansas later this evening. Team GM John Dybala and assistant GM Allison Cashwell are reported home safe, although some reports indicate Dybala slept in an overcoat last night after the furnace went out for a short time. Team VP of Operations Mark Singleton, at home in Costa Mesa, California, reportedly burst out laughing when informed of the news. Today's weather for Orange County is warm, sunny, and 75 degrees. There was intense discussion of the team being moved to Anaheim. However, every power hitter on the team would probably veto such a move, at least for this season.
