Hitting for Pitching--Hartford Trades With Larimer

Harold Reynolds, packing his bag for a return from whence he came, namely Hartford, Connecticut, has a message for Larimer Knights owner/GM John Dybala: just because you like to travel doesn't mean your players do.

"Let's see. First there was Todd Walker, who looked like a regular ping-pong ball bouncing along US 34 between here and Fort Morgan. Then Todd Benzinger got sent down and back. Then Bill Mueller. Then he sent me down and called me and told me I was traded like 2 hours after I got here."

"On the other hand, if I had to be traded, I'm glad I'm going back to Hartford. I made a lot of friends there before I left, and Chrabascz is a really nice guy. Interesting switch in ownership, though ... I'm trading a dwarf in for a chipmunk. On the other hand, at least the chipmunk is temporary."

Reynolds was one of three players who will be leaving Colorado under the terms of a deal reached between Hartford and Larimer early this afternoon. Reynolds, along with pitchers Jack Broskie and Cal Eldred, will be heading to Hartford, while power-hitting Paul Sorrento, second baseman Howie Paulette, and rookie pitcher Dan Davis will be the latest to join the only team whose biggest road victory comes when they get home and the Denver International Airport baggage system hasn't eaten the team's luggage.

Paul Sorrento, evidently having heard one too many stories from teammate and former Larimer first baseman Rafael Palmiero, made this comment to the Hartford media before leaving for the airport: "I am praying he wants me for trade bait."
