Larimer, Dybala Fall on Hard Times

Larimer Knights owner John Dybala seems incapable of catching a break these days. One day after being informed that his former landlord was refusing to refund his security deposit without a court battle, the Knights were forced to send players to the DL for the first time this season. OF Mark Whiten, P Jose Lima, and SS Pokey Reese were all assigned to the DL this afternoon. Reese had already been sitting on the bench nursing an injury, but with a 22% injury that showed no sign of improvement, it was deemed for the best.

Three players were activated from the Knights farm team, the Morgan Kings of nearby Fort Morgan, Colorado. Making his second trip across Highway 34 this season is OF Garret Anderson, who will take Whiten's place on the roster. Joining him will be catcher Victor Lezcano, called up to shore up Larimer's injured battery of backstops, and pitcher Steve North. Word is that Steve North will be used as a starter, possibly setting up a trade of another pitcher if he has success in that role.

Who knows? Perhaps these moves will help the team in spite of the loss of six front-line players to injury, helping the Knights solidify their hold on first place.
