Hartford Makes Minor Changes

The Hartford Whalers have made the following changes (minor):

Chrabascz said, "We made some minor adjustments. Rafael needed to get fully healed and Whiten needed some at-bat's. Saunders is a rookie and will have plenty of time to develop-he belongs in the pen for now. We think we were hard on Sele originally so he's getting his 3rd start later this week as a Whaler. Johnson has no endurance and might only have a career in AAA. We'll have to wait and see. We have high hopes for Colbert, though. We're promising to be patient with him."

TRADES:

Hartford appreciates all of the offers but many people are still not identifying themselves or their clubs and some stats would be appreciated on trade prospects or at least an overall assessment (honest) of how the player has been doing this season.

Hartford is testing the waters now with Sorrento, Palmiero, Gwynn and Whiten to see if it can get some nibbles for a SERIOUS (less than a 3 ERA, if possible with a decent winning percentage) starter to go behind Maddux and power Hartford up for the second half of the season. They would also ask for some sort of replacement to back-up whoever they lose. Example...give us some sort of 1B if we lose Palmiero or Sorrento, etc.
