Hartford Parts Ways with Rosado and Rogers

The Hartford Whalers have traded starting pitchers Kenny Rogers and Jose Rosado, along with rookie reliever Francisco Cordova, to the bottom-feeding Edmonton Oil Kings for starting pitchers Ben McDonald, Arthur Rhodes and Bob Ardell. Chrabascz said this of the deal, "We needed to make a change and Kenny made it easier with his poor performance lately. I think Ben McDonald will replace him quite well. I'm sad to see Rosado go but Rhodes is a quality lefty as well so we shouldn't skip a beat. Cordova was the biggest loss, in my view, in the deal. We always hate to lose rookies, especially relievers. However, Ardell outta be an excellent long reliever and 6th or 7th starter behind Sele."
