Maddux Pitches Yet Another Gem

Hartford (AP)-

Greg Maddux moved to 5-1 on the season and dropped his PVBL best, nearly invisible, ERA to 0.92 by pitching 7 strong shutout innings in a 2-0 win against Seattle on the road today. Maddux had this to say of his performance, "I felt strong and was in control. I couldn't have asked for a better day." Maddux has pitched 49 innings and has given up the fewest runs of all starters thus far. When asked of Chrabascz's moving the Whalers to a four-man rotation, Maddux responded, "Well, we'll see what happens. Personally, I think we need Sele starting but who the hell am I. Chrabascz does have us winning the division at the moment." That he does...Hartford moved back to 5 games up on second-place Seattle with Edmonton and DC knocking on their door.

Rumors

Hartford is reportedly in negotiations for Albert Belle and Jeff Bagwell and it appears Tony Gwynn may be packing his bags. We'll keep you posted.

Chrabascz said this of Mark McGwire's success in Spokane... "I'd sure like to have him. I wonder what we'd need to give them for him."
