Hartford Ends 4 Game Skid

The Hartford Whalers broke their season-high four-game losing streak with a 4-3 win over last-place Edmonton, avoiding what would've been their first swept series. Rookie phenom John Burke pitched another extraordinary game, allowing a meager 1 run in 6 strong innings of work but failed to get the win as Huisman, Saunders and Rothrock faltered out of the pen. Rothrock picked up his first win as a reliever. Burke is still notched at 2-1 with a flurry of no decisions. John had this to say, "As long as we win the game I don't care who picks up the stats. I'm here to produce and help us win games. I feel I've done that and will continue to. Don't worry, I've got some 20-win seasons ahead of me for sure." GM/Owner/Manager Jeremy Chrabascz, back from family leave, was not as quiet about John's luck, "We've got to win this kid some games. This is ridiculous. He's pitching his heart out and has little to show for it." Of the Whale's recent skid, Chrabascz had this to say, "I didn't do my job-period. Having Griffey and Strawberry out doesn't help either." Lenny Dykstra and Vince Coleman are filling the respective spots and both were hitless in tonight's contest.

Up ahead...Aaron Sele looks to rebound from a 15-run pounding last week tomorrow afternoon.

Trade winds: Hartford is shopping Jose Vizcaino. Serious offers only, please. Hartford need some serious run production with Griffey and Strawberry out. Benzinger, Brunansky, and Trlicek are also available.
