Hartford News

The Hartford Whalers lost their season-high 4th straight on Friday to Edmonton, 6-5. Kenny Rogers (5-0) pitched well but lost thanks to the floundering Hartford bullpen, namely Huisman. Charlie Rothrock made his strong major league debut, pitching a couple of innings not allowing a run. Paul Sorrento hit his PVBL-leading 12th homerun (38 RBI-1st) in a losing cause. The club was without Manager Jeremy Chrabascz who had flown to Orlando, Florida for a few days to be with his terminally ill grandmother (so she could see her great grandson for the first time). Chrabascz's wife, Cathy, managed the club on Friday in the interim and did a pretty good job only to watch Huisman struggle late in the game taking his 1st loss of the season. Jeremy returned from his trip this morning, quiet, preoccupied and simply not himself. He declined comment on his club on the way into his apartment building, saying only, "Please leave me be for a bit, thanks."

Transactions: None.

Rumors: A trade with Galena for Molitor and Pendleton.

On the block: Benzinger, Brunansky, Huisman, Trlicek and possibly Reynolds or Vizcaino
