Whalers Edge Seattle for 9th Consecutive Victory

The Hartford Whalers moved 18-6 today on the heels of a 9-game winning streak with a victory over second-place (McCoy) Seattle, 3-2. Hartford got another strong outing from rookie pitcher, John Burke, who allowed only 2 runs in 5 1/3 innings in his no decision. Stan Belinda picked up his second win and Pichardo his third save.

Recently acquired, Aaron Sele (3-0), will make his Hartford debut tomorrow assuming the 5th spot in the rotation.

Vince Coleman is listed as day-to-day with a "headache." That's a new one! GM/Owner/Manager Jeremy Chrabascz gave Coleman some extra strength Tylenol after the game and told him, "You're not going on the DL so suck it up, kid."

Dan Shapiro, league PR Rep, jokingly criticized Chrabascz for not recognizing the seriousness of a headache. "What if its the first sign of a cancerous tumor, Jeremy?"

Hartford is shopping 2B Harold Reynolds and OF Tom Brunansky if anyone's interested.
