Impressive Whalers Move to 13-6

Hartford- The Whalers moved to 13-6 on the young season in a wild one at home against Edmonton, winning 16-7 tonight at Travellers Park. The Whale got a mediocre complete game from rookie pitching sensation, John Burke, who allowed 7 earned runs in 9 innings pitched. Burke moved to 2-1 on the season as his ERA plummeted. "You have to take the good with the bad. Let's just thank the Lord that we actually won this one!" said Burke following the game. Out-spoken, always colorful Manager/Owner/GM Jeremy Chrabascz had this to say of his team's day, "Our pitching was utter dog crap but thankfully our batting lineup ate its Wheaties...and then some. No offense to John but I guess the kid just should've stayed in bed today. Either that or he should've had what Paul, Ken and Tony had for breakfast!" Speaking on the young season, Chrabascz replied, "We have much room for improvement, especially in terms of our pitching. Who the **ck could would be content with a 3 1/2 game lead in the division? Anaheim doesn't even have an owner/GM right now and they continue to hang in there! If anyone's got a solid 5th starter let me know...we'll give ya an arm and a few legs for one!"

HARTFORD'S RECENT TRANSACTIONS:

LF Daryl Strawberry was placed onthe 15-day DL with a pulled hamstring. LF Vince Coleman will be his interim replacement.

Filling Strawberry's roster spot for 15 days wil be veteran 2B, Harold Reynolds, who will vie for the starting 2B job where both Bip Roberts and Jose Vizcaino have continued to struggled.

HARTFORD'S NEEDS:

Starting pitching, starting pitching, starting pitching. Although Kenny Rogers and Greg Maddux are a combined 7-0, Rosado is 0-0, Burke is 2-1 and Davis is 0-1. Note: Davis' spot has been filled by two others so far this season who both lost badly.

ON HARTFORD'S TRADING BLOCK:

2B Bip Roberts, 2B Jose Vizcaino, OF Tom Brunansky, P Tony Fossas, P Pat Mahomes, P Steve Sparks, P Ron Darling... Are all possibilities.

HARTFORD'S INTERESTS (SO FAR):

Juan Guzman, Bob Tewksbury, Roger Clemens, Brad Radke, Todd Stottlemyre, Tom Glavine, John Smoltz and Curt Schilling...but open to others.
