PRESS RELEASE/BRIEF...
The Hartford Whalers moved to 10-6 this week as Greg Maddux picked up his 3rd win and rookie 4th starter, John Burke pitched another marvelous game while receiving a no-decision. Paul Sorrento has continued his torrid hitting, leading the Enterprise League in RBI's and homers. Ken Griffey has finally found his stroke by hitting 4 homers this week alone. "The third spot has done it all for me," he had to say of his recent surge. The Whalers haven't been devoid of bad news, however, as starting catcher, Joe Girardi, and starting left fielder, Daryl Strawberry, have struggled with minor injuries. Regardless, the Whalers have maintained a 1 1/2 game lead over second place Anaheim. GM Jeremy Chrabascz had this to say, "I'm still not satisfied. We've lost some very stupid games with errors and poor relief pitching. We may have to do something about that soon. Not to mention the stupid computer glitch causing random changes in batting lineups has really killed us! I mean who the hell would put Todd Benzinger in for Lenny Dykstra as DH or Bip Roberts as catcher, for that matter!"
The Whalers organization would like to wish everyone a pleasant holiday weekend as it tries to rest up and go 5-0 in the upcoming week.
Note to Commissioner Matt: PLEASE make sure you have Dykstra and Coleman programmed in as DH and LF, respectively for the upcoming week.
