Commish Decides on Bagwell Situation

As you all know, there was some confusion involving trades between Hartford-Tampa Bay and DC United-Tampa Bay. Tampa Bay attempted to trade Bagwell to both teams, thinking the deal with Hartford may had fallen through.

It is the decision of the league commissioner, Matthew Peck, that although Tampa Bay may have thought the deal with Hartford had fallen through and may have been acting in earnest, he nevertheless should NOT have traded Bagwell to DC after confirming a trade with Hartford. The proper course of action would have been to e-mail me asking if Hartford had also confirmed, and if not, if he could take the deal off the table.

In compensation for this debacle, Hartford and DC United may each select one player from Tampa Bay's AAA roster. The player to be selected is of Hartford's and DC's choice.

To all owners: Remember, if you CONFIRM a trade by sending me e-mail, assume the trade is going to be processed and DO NOT try to trade the players involved to other teams.
