Duluth has just completed their first 3 games sweep since entering the PVBL this season over Spokane. The Bjork outscored their opponents 63-23 in only 3 games. "63 runs is unbelieveable for a seven games series let alone 3??? I'm speechless.." is what GM Lund had to say about the historic Bjorkian event. Impressive number were put up by 2/3rds of the Bjork lineup, John Jaha went 8/13 with 12 RBI 2 Doubles and a round tripper to boot, another Duluth player with 12 RBI for the series was shortstop Alex Rodriguez who's 9/17 12 RBI 3 Double 2 HR game performance had much to do with his amazing 5/6 2 HR 10 RBI 2nd game. "...ten RBI... ten, in a game, ten..." A-Rod was commented saying. The early season trade sending Garciaparra to Edmonton has greatly improved this team. Other notables were Dave Martinez's 10 hits, Berroa's 10 RBI's and Segui's 3 Double 4/6 4 RBI game 3 showing. Albert Belle, currently tied for first with Spokane's Mark McGwire in average, had a 7 for 11 7 RBI series with a pair of dingers had this to say, "... if we played in Colorado we would be undefeated...", when asked about the pitching problem he replied," there wouldn't be a problem 'cause the other team wouldn't ever get up to bat..". Duluth's pitching however, was less than spectacular this series, allowing 35 hits and 23 runs. The lone star in the hole the Bjork calls it's rotation was Fernandez who struck out 12 in 7IP to take over 3rd overall in the confrence in K's. Bjork fans need not to worry though, most of Duluth's starters and pitchers are all relatively young, averaging around 23-24 years of age, this along with the draft picks and free agent acquisitions made recently, makes the Bjork future look bright.
