Duluth, Mn:
Well, things are looking up for our beloved Bjork, after starting off with the worst record in the PVBL and spending most of the season looking up at everyone else, the Bjork have finally showed a bit of progress. Highlights include Albert Belle who currently stands only 1 pt. behind Mark McGwire in the batting title race. Belle, who hardly over a week ago wasn't even in the top ten had this to say of his new found success at the plate, "...you know, things are a lot easier now that we've got long ball threats numbers 2-5 in the order. Geronimo has been a terror as of late which means more pitchers are lookin' to face Albert...and Albert likes it... very much". Amazingly, the Bjork could easily be the PVBL most underrated overlooked team, sure they're sitting with a 21-41 record, but they are outscoring their opponents, out hitting them in every category. They win by large margins and lose by narrow amounts, the fingers with this problem are all being pointed in the bullpen and starting rotation. GM Andy Lund took a gamble with a trade for Alex Rodriguez and Jason Isringhausen for Nomar Garciaparra and Mark Wholers, he had this to say on the trade, "... losing Wholers really hurts, it left a big hole in our pen, but then again, it didn't really matter seeing that he didn't get to see many leads in the first place. Our starters are so inconsisitent it kills me... hopefully they'll come around with some more experience". Coach Kirby Puckett had a few comments of his own stating, "We need pitching, whether it be getting new guys or having our current staff come around, I don't care, I just would like to have an ERA a tad lower than the 6-7 range for our staff???" Actually I think it's more around 9, but on a lighter note Sterling Hitchcock pitched a gem last night going 7 while scattering 4 hits and giving up only 1 run for a 5-1 victory, Hitch's second. The only other plus in the Bjork staff is Fernandez current hold over 4th in K's, only 6 behind the leader (Finley). Knock on wood but Charles Johnson and Dave Martinez will finally be back within the week, completeing the Bjork lineup, barring any future injuries, the Bjork will have consistent hitting in 8 positions with Jaha, Belle, Segui, A-Rod, Martinez, Johnson, Berroa and Spiers.. argueable the best offense in the PVBL 1-9.
Bjork Needs: Pitching PLEASE.. pitching :)
