8/30/97 Duluth, Mn.
Well, what can you say? Someone has to be at the bottom of the pile and unfortunately for us northlanders, it's our beloved Bjork. While the Bjork has been hitting at a good pace all year, their pitching has been non-existent. Along with the lack of quality hurlers, Duluth also has little power. This adds up to the end product of a 3-10 start. Nomar Garciaparra replied when asked of the teams outlook on their slow start, ".... nowhere to go but up baby, it's kind of dissappointing though, I mean we sellout every home game, problem is that it only takes 5000 people. Albert Belle had a lot of complaints of the cold weather and "Minnesota Nice" mentallity of the fans, "... I gots no one to deal with up here in the boonies. The fans don't boo, the bars have no fights..." Belle went on to talk about the season by saying, ".. and if I get walked one more time I swear I'm a do somethin', if the pitcher ain't given me no balls to swing at, I'm a haveta hit somethin' else." So all you pitchers out there, consider yourself warned. GM Andy Lund had this outlook, "..if you give up more runs than you earn... you lose... maybe it's our team colors, that silver gives a wicked glare.."
