This is the official position of DC United. When I made the trade with Tampa Bay, I was not informed that a prior deal had been made. I was finally told (not by the Tampa Bay owner) by the Commissioner about the Hartford-Tampa Bay trade. I would not have made such a trade had I had knowledge of this. I too feel this kind of activity should be punished. It is fraudulent dealing and should not be allowed in this deal. I do not approve of this, and would not have gotten caught up in this situation had I known about the prior trade. I have asked the Commissioner to void my deal with Tampa Bay, and award the Jeff Bagwell trade made by Hartford. I cannot accept the players I would be awarded under these circumstances. I have also asked that Tampa Bay be punished for such fraudulent dealings. This was not what I intended. I am sorry for the mixup. This wouldn't have happened had I not been informed by the Tampa Bay club of this prior to my attempted deal. So everyone please accepted the voiding of my attempted deal and the awarding of the Hartford-Tampa Bay trade. That was the only true trade, and I ask that that be awarded. Sorry and Thank You.
