Andy Pettitte Will Start In a Week August 10, 1997
G.M. Ryan George was very upset today after tests revealed that Andy Pettitte will be able to play in a week. This news comes just days after trading Pettitte thinking he was done for the year. G.M. Ryan George had this to say, "This is very frustrating, just last week I was told that he wouldn't pitch for the year so I made the trade thinking that. Then I hear that he should be back in a week. I wish that there was some way of voiding this trade because I was given false information but I doubt that would happen. I do hope, however, that the commish at least looks this over because I think that I'm being (screwed) in this situation. I don't think a player's condition can go from 2-3 months to up to a week just like that. I have had 2 major trades voided during this year and now I hope, for once, I can have something done in my favor."
The Skulls won today, 7-2 behind 7 2-run innings by Alex Fernandez (11- 5). The bottom of the line up produced all 7 runs. Baerga, Miller (who was involved in the Pettitte trade) and Angel Sherid all hit homers and Baerga and Sherid drove in 3 runs. Motor city won twice today cutting the lead in half to .5 games.
