Skulls Win 6th Straight, Close in on Hogs

The Brooklyn Skulls won their 6th strait and the 8th of their last 10. The Skulls defeated Austin behind the pitching of Juan Gusman. The Skulls are currently 5 games ahead of Motor City for the division lead and are 1 1/2 games behind The Groundhogs for the best record overall. The inconsistant Juan Gusman has pitched very well in his last few starts and has emerged as a legitimate #2 starter. Gusman pitched 7 scoreless innings, gave up 4 hits while striking out 9 and walking only 1 batter. Gusman is now 8-5 with a 3.28 era. The Skulls' hitters were nearly shut down as they only scored 3 runs on 7 hits.

G.M. Ryan george made a very suprising move today in naming their 5th starter. After watching his brother's first round draft choice (Frank Callahan) go 2-0 with a 1.29 era, Ryan George decided to give the 10th pick in the draft, Buddy Moisan, a chance to win the 5th spot in the rotation. Here is what g.M. Ryan George had to say "I really liked what I saw out of Buddy in his starts in AAA and I think he deserves a chance to win the job. Right now that spot is up for grabbs, if he pitches well, he will get the job, if not I'll give somone else a chance. We have about 4 pitchers that have a chance and we'll go with whom ever pitches the best."

For now the Skulls have ended all trade talks involving Andy Benes, " We feel that Andy benes is a very important part to this ballclub, he is as good a #4 starter as you are going to find in the league and he solidified this rotation as one of the best in the league. I'm taking him off of the trading block unless I get an offer that I can't refuse."

The Skulls are still in need of relief pitching and might be willing to part with Henry Rodruigez for good relief pitching.
