The Skulls made a big statement throughout the league over the last couple of days by sweeping a 3 game series vs. Motor City. With a 2-0 win the Skulls open up a 6 game lead over Motor City and are within 1.5 games of the best record in the whole PVBL. Dvaid Cone (9-0) pitched a gem today going 6 shutout innings on 3 hits and striking out 8 batters. Cone has the best winning percentage in the league and has a 2.39 era and 99k's in 101 innings. " We got Cone in a deal in the beginning of the year for 3 playersand now it seems like a steal. He has been utterly brilliant this year for us and next to Maddux, he has been the best pitcher in the league. i really don't know where we would be without him." That was what G.M. Ryan george had to say. The first and only two runs came in the first inning when Bernie williams singled and Jeff Bagwell sent a fastball into the bleachers for a 2 run homer.
