The Skulls continue their torrid play, sweeping a double header versus division rival, Bellingham, to take over the best record in the EL at 25-16. The first game was between Andy Benes and Rick Helling. Benes gave up 0er over 6.2 innings but the skulls trailed 3-2 going into the bottom of the ninth when Manny Ramirez came up to the plate with 2 on and, you guessed it, he hit a game winning 3-run homer. The win was the Skull's fourth win when trailing after 8.
The second game was between Juan Gusman and Doc Gooden. Gusman went the distance giving up only 2 unearned runs. The Skulls won the game 3-2. The key hit was a 2-run homer by Manny Ramirez in the 4th. Since returning to the line-up, Ramirez has been the hottest hitter in the league. In 5 games, he has 6 homers and 16 rbi. Here's what G.M. Ryan George had to say about the sweep, " The two wins are very good for us, we got solid starts from two pitchers who have been very inconsistant for us this year. We also have some breathing room in the division. Manny Ramirez hasbeen the MVP of the league. He keeps on getting big hit after big hit, I don't know where we'd be without him."
Here are Ramirez' stats. Games: 29, AB: 110, H: 44, 2b: 4, HR: 13, RBI: 52, R: 23, SO: 14, BB: 13, AVG: .400, OB: .464, SLG: .791.
